Details of the WHIP management practices:

• ranch split into 4 defined areas
• the following activities will occur in all areas:
  brush management - shearing, stacking and burning
  • range planting - establishment of native vegetative cover using no till drill
  • nutrient management - for initial grass establishment only
  • prescribed grazing
• native grasses to be planted:
  • Alamo Switchgrass
  • Indiangrass
  • Sideoats Grama
  • Little Bluestem
• forbs to be planted:
  • Illinois Bundleflower
  • Maximillian Sunflower
  • Partridge Pea

The ranch has also qualified as a US Fish & Wildlife Partner. Which will include assistance for fencing of reparian areas and planting of native trees.
